About the author

Chris Waigl is an earth scientist who specializes on satellite and aerial observations of changes in the northern high latitudes, specifically wildfire. She has lived in Germany, France and the UK where she studied physics, history and philosophy of science, and a little bit of linguistics, and has worked as a school teacher, tech support, and software engineer, among other things. In 2011, she moved to Alaska to become research staff for the operations of a climate research station on the North Slope of Alaska. She fell in love with the North — the Arctic and boreal zones — and enrolled to do a PhD in geophysics (remote sensing), which she achieved in 2017.

This is her blog for tech and science topics. There are also a site for general texts. Chris also created the Eggcorn Database.
